Westfield came up short 17-13 in a slugfest against Hillsborough in an early morning Sunday game. Despite the high score, Westfield pitchers Brett Robertshaw, Eric Varakian, Chris Boutsikaris and Scott Tupper threw pretty well. While the Westfield hurlers were throwing strikes, their defense had an off day and let them down early and often. Westfield committed no fewer than 8 errors and Hillsborough capitalized on almost every mistake with big hits.
Westfield's offense was a bright spot and they collected 17 hits. Varakian led the way with a 4 for 4 performance. Boutsikaris, Chris Varano, Vin Difilippo and Devin Anderson each had 2 hits and a double for Westfield in the loss.
