Westfield lost to Florham Park for the 2nd time this year -- this time by the score of 4-1. Westfield's offense struggled most of the night in the 95+ degree heat.
The Blue Devils managed only 5 hits off of the Florham Park pitchers and their run came in the 6th inning when Hopper Murray singled, advanced to second on a single by Eric Varakian and alertly stole 3rd when the Florham Park pitcher when to the windup. The pitcher attempted to step off and throw out Murray at 3rd, but the throw went out of play which allowed Murray to score and Varakian to advance to 3rd. Unfortunately Westfield was not able to manage any more runs and the game ended at 4-1.
Florham Park scored all of their runs in the 3rd inning. Chris Boutsikaris and Chris Rinaldi threw for Westfield and they also allowed only 5 hits.
Rinaldi had two hits, including a double and Varakian, Murray and Devin Anderson each had hits for Westfield.
Next up for Westfield is a CJBL match up against Berkley Heights on Saturday at 8:15 AM in Berkley Heights.
